Birdie was created when I was tasked with designing and illustrating a character to represent a global golfer for the International Crown event that could be used evergreen for the LPGA's various outlets. The character needed a look inspired by South Korean styles similar to Pukka, and be universally friendly and adaptable. Birdie—a name that fits well in the golf theme–was born of that directive. After serving as the global golf ambassador for the International Crown tournament hosted in Korea, she then morphed into characters for the U.S. and European Solheim Cup teams, and also as a friendly, guiding persona for the Girls Golf programs.
